Can people make God mad? Yes, we can. The reading from Numbers makes it very clear that we humans can infuriate God. How do we do this? By complaining about our “hardships” in the midst of God’s goodness. In the beginning of Chapter 11, the Israelites have the nerve to complain to God about their “hardships” as they wander in the wilderness. Oh, my, their lives are so hard. God is visibly with them. God has been visibly with them and provided for them for over two years. And yet the people have the nerve to complain about their hardship…
